We administer federal and state funds through programs designed to advance the development of energy-efficient and affordable housing for working families, drive housing policy for Louisiana, and oversee the state's Disaster Housing Task Force. 

 

Each day our mission is met by a dedicated staff of professionals who help families make their housing dreams a reality.

BENOIT TOWNHOMES

#TeamLHC celebrates a huge success of the official grand opening for the Benoit Townhomes in Lake Charles, LA. This development has a total of 78 affordable housing units built with storm resiliency features. “Our public and private partnerships help us make affordable housing more attainable to residents in Louisiana,” said LHC Executive Director Kevin Delahoussaye. “The Benoit Townhomes will allow residents to feel at ease in their home, allowing them and their community to thrive.”

WEST TUNNEL LOFTS

#TeamLHC celebrates the grand opening of a new affordable housing complex dedicated to workforce households in Houma, LA. The West Tunnel Lofts bring 40 units that grant the community new housing opportunities. As of April 1, 2026, the West Tunnel Lofts is 60% occupied and 82% leased.

National Healthy Homes Month Banner (1)

Throughout the month of April, LHC recognized National Healthy Homes Month with the LSU AgCenter LaHouse. Together the two agencies worked on videos to show households how to keep their homes safe and energy-efficient with simple at-home techniques. The video segment showcased five DIY tips, that included weatherstripping, energy audits, HVAC and more. To watch all of the videos, check out LHC's National Healthy Homes Month Press.

Meet a LHC Certified Mortgage Loan Officer

Hear it from the professionals🌟! Meet a LHC Certified Mortgage Loan Officer. Tara Fluegence is a community mortgage loan originator with Red River Bank. Her work has led to collaboration with the Louisiana Housing Corporation's Homeownership Programs, which can help potential homebuyers become homeowners. Watch this video to learn more about Tara's journey with LHC and how it has impacted her clients. Don't forget to check out LHC's website for more info on the homebuying process.

LHC's Homeownership Marketing Outreach Supervisor, Daniel Duggan, held a continuing education course for Louisiana real estate agents at Red River Bank.

LSU AgCenter LaHouse

#TeamLHC partnered with LSU AgCenter LaHouse for National Healthy Homes Month to share tips with households on ways to keep their homes more energy-efficient. Daniel Duggan, Claire Scott, and Pam Lewandowski all participated in the healthy homes video segments, while LHC's Public Affairs shot the videos.

Natchitoches

Duggan travelled to Northwest Louisiana to hold continuing education courses at Sabine State Bank, Exchange Bank, and City Bank and Trust Company.

Houma and Alexandria

Duggan also presented his "Closing the Affordability Gap" presentation in Houma, followed by another class with Red River Bank in Alexandria. 

LHC Board Of Directors Meeting

The LHC Board of Directors meeting did not occur this April, and the board will reconvene on May 13th. Thank you for your patience, and we shall see you in May.
