LHC's mission is to ensure that every Louisiana resident is granted an opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing. We administer federal and state funds through programs designed to advance the development of energy-efficient and affordable housing for working families, drive housing policy for Louisiana, and oversee the state's Disaster Housing Task Force.

Each day our mission is met by a dedicated staff of professionals who help families make their housing dreams a reality.

LHC On Your Block, Louisiana Avenue FIrehouse

For this month's LHC On Your Block segment, we are focusing on LHC's disaster recovery projects that help Louisiana communities impacted by natural disasters to find safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing. Louisiana Avenue Firehouse stands as a prime example of how rehabilitation can transform a property into a space with renewed purpose. This mixed-use property in New Orleans's Central City, utilized LHC's Rental Restoration and Development Program funds, which created permanently affordable apartments alongside an early childhood education center. Watch this video to learn more about this historic and creative project.
