LHC's mission is to ensure that every Louisiana resident is granted an opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing. We administer federal and state funds through programs designed to advance the development of energy-efficient and affordable housing for working families, drive housing policy for Louisiana, and oversee the state's Disaster Housing Task Force. 

 

Each day our mission is met by a dedicated staff of professionals who help families make their housing dreams a reality.

The Reserve at Power Place

#TeamLHC opened the doors to a new 144-unit affordable housing community in Lake Charles, LA. The partnership of LHC and the Office of Community Development awarded $19.5 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, along with $ 21 million in Multifamily Revenue Bonds and $1.7 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.

LHC On You Block, Keys for Service

It is never too late to follow the path to homeownership. Meet Kenitra Figaro. At 46 years old, she purchased her first home through LHC's Keys for Service Program. Her message to potential homebuyers is, "I encourage them. Now, if I could get it, then you can get it. You may not have to go through all of the stuff that I had to." LHC On Your Block, Pathways to Homeownership Program Testimony

The path to homeownership can sometimes be unexpected, but Shane truly felt he had moved in the right direction after finding LHC's Pathways to Homeownership Program. As a teacher and single parent, Shane found the perfect home for him and his family. As we close out June 2025 Homeownership Month, let Shane's story be a reminder that the dream of homeownership is possible.

LHC Board Of Directors Meeting Recap

June 2025

Budget & Finance Committee

  • The Board of Directors discussed LHC's financials.
  • Approved the resolution adopting a Short-Term LHC Operating Budget from July 1, 2025, through October 1, 2025, as related to the LHC Operating Budget for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2026. 

Programs Committee

  • Approved the resolution accepting the parameter term proposal for the purchase of not exceeding $125M of LHC Single Family Mortgage Revenue Bonds.
  • Approved the resolution of intention to issue not exceeding $22M in Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds for 4100 Bywater, located at the southeast intersection of Royal Street and Mazant Street in New Orleans, LA.
  • Approved the resolution and authorization of the issuance of not
    exceeding $16M Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds for Touro Shakspeare located at 2621 General Meyer Avenue, New Orleans, LA.
