LHC's mission is to ensure that every Louisiana resident is granted an opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, energy-efficient housing. We administer federal and state funds through programs designed to advance the development of energy-efficient and affordable housing for working families, drive housing policy for Louisiana, and oversee the state's Disaster Housing Task Force. 

 

Each day, this ongoing challenge to produce more safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing is met by a dedicated staff of professionals who help families make their housing dreams a reality.

Marjorianna Willman appointed as the Louisiana Housing Corporation Executive Director

The LHC Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Marjorianna Willman as the Permanent Executive Director for the Louisiana Housing Corporation. Ms. Willman served as Interim Executive Director since October 2023 and previously served as the Chief Operating and Legal Officer for the agency. Ms. Willman comes with almost twenty years of experience in the affordable housing industry. “We must deliver with a sense of urgency, there are people depending on us, it’s not a job for me it is a mission,” said Ms. Willman.

#TeamLHC and partners GOHSEP and OCD are looking for available rental units or apartment vacancies to help families continue to recover from the most recent storms. If you have rental vacancies available, list yours for free online at LA Housing Search. You can also update them by phone at 1-877-428-884.

Passage of H.R. 7024

#TeamLHC thanks the members of the Louisiana Congressional Delegation for their favorable passage of H.R. 7024, and to Speaker Mike Johnson for his leadership in bringing this bill to the House Floor. The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration.

At LHC Headquarters, another group gathered together for a LA Statewide Think Tank, which facilitates crucial conversations to further define and mobile the objectives and phases of six affordable housing work streams.

Project Highlights

  • Lafitte Phase VII Project | New Orleans, LA

LHC Board of Directors approved $14.3 million in Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds for Lafitte Phase VII, located on North Johnson Street and multiple contiguous sites within a 2.75-acre block bounded by North Prieur Street, Lafitte Avenue, North Roman Street, and Orleans Avenue. LHC will authorize the staff and counsel to allocate 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to such facilities. 

Action Items

  • Approved $125 million of LHC Single Family Mortgage Revenue Bonds in one or more series or subseries, fixing the parameter of terms of said bonds and otherwise providing with respect to said bonds. 
  • 2025 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) Discussion. The next 2025 QAP Public Hearing will be on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at LHC Headquarters in Baton Rouge, LA, from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m.

LHC's Human Resources collected diapers this Mardi Gras Season to benefit the Diaper Bank of Junior League of Baton Rouge. This non-profit works with community organizations to distribute diapers to families in need. The Diaper Bank has provided 555,000 diapers to 23 partner agencies, impacting over 11,500 East Baton Rouge Parish families. #TeamLHC brought in 861 diapers, a total of 26 packs. A special shoutout to Barry Brooks for bringing in the most.
