LHC's mission is to ensure that every Louisiana resident is granted an opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, energy-efficient housing. We administer federal and state funds through programs designed to advance the development of energy-efficient and affordable housing for working families, drive housing policy for Louisiana, and oversee the state's Disaster Housing Task Force. 

 

Each day, this ongoing challenge to produce more safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing is met by a dedicated staff of professionals who help families make their housing dreams a reality.

1st Quarter of 2024 LHC Staff Meeting

Louisiana Housing Corporation held its first annual staff meeting of 2024. New staff members who recently joined #TeamLHC were honored. LHC's Quarterly Achievement Award went to Alicia George for her exceptional performance at LHC.

LHC is proud to announce its inaugural Fair Housing Summit on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 2415 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, LA, 70808. Themed Fair Housing for All: Uniting Communities, Bridging Gaps, the summit marks the 56th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act.

For February, LHC On Your Block highlights our Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Watch this video to see how the LIHEAP program helped Lorry Davis keep the lights on in her home. The LIHEAP Program was created in 1981 to assist low-income households with utility bills. A special thank you to the Lafourche Office of Community Action for also helping Lorry apply for the LIHEAP Program.

Lenders, Realtors, and Loan Officers Award Ceremony

#TeamLHC honored its top lenders, realtors, and loan officers for helping the citizens of Louisiana find their dream homes at affordable prices. NOLA Lending, a division of Fidelity Bank, received the top lender award. Currently with the Lower Group, Taylor Rogers received the top loan officer award. Richard Spears received the top realtor award. Congratulations to these organizations and individuals!

A special #TeamLHC reminder to all Louisiana landlords, list your available rental units or apartment vacancies to help families continue to recover from the most recent storms. Mrs. Willman spoke to Greater Ascension Rotary Club members on the current battles homeowners face when finding affordable housing.

Madison Prep Academy, Baton Rouge

Homeownership Marketing Representative Dexter Alexander also attended "Take It to the Bank." Baton Rouge LSU AgCenter put on the event; Dexter helped orchestrate a financial literacy focusing on housing. He discussed budgeting and preparation for homeownership with the students.

Mrs. Willman participated in the Baker Home Rehabilitation Program video. LHC played a vital role in rehabilitating the homes in the City of Baker. The video is expected to come out soon.

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Human Services Department held the Annual Community Impact Meeting. Chief of Programs Officer Brenda Evans, Housing and Homeless Services Administrator Winona Connor, and CoC Manager Carrie Patterson attended and spoke at this event.

Project Highlights

  • Canal Crossing Senior Apartments | New Orleans, LA

LHC Board of Directors approved $11M in Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds in one or more series to finance the acquisition, construction, and equipping of a multifamily housing development in Louisiana. 

Action Items

  • Approved issuing a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the preliminary commitment of up to $35M of combined HUD HOME-American Rescue Plan (HOME-ARP) funds and HUD CDBG-DR 2020-2021 funds to provide funding for the development of multifamily affordable rental housing in Louisiana to assist people experiencing homelessness, those at risk of becoming homeless, and other vulnerable populations. 
  • Approved a Request for Proposals (RFP) to seek proposals for Professional Title, closing, and Foreclosure Services and to provide for other matters in connection therewith. 
  • Approved RFP to seek proposals for Property Management Services of Mid-City Gardens Apartments, Property Management Services of Willowbrook Apartments, and Property Management Services of Village de Jardin Apartments
  • Approved RFP to select and contract with selected proposer(s) for Environmental Services
  • Approved selection and contract with The Workforce Group, LLC to the RFP for Consulting Services for Homelessness and Housing Voucher Programs.
  • Approval of the State's 2025 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP)
