LHC's mission is to ensure that every Louisiana resident is granted an opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing. We administer federal and state funds through programs designed to advance the development of energy-efficient and affordable housing for working families, drive housing policy for Louisiana, and oversee the state's Disaster Housing Task Force. 

 

Each day our mission is met by a dedicated staff of professionals who help families make their housing dreams a reality.

LHC, the Office of Community Development, and the 29:11 Academy celebrated the groundbreaking of an affordable rental duplex in Northdale Subdivision. The duplex received $355,000 of CDBG-DR funding through the Rental Restoration and Development Program (RRDP).

Baton Rouge, LA

East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority and LHC's HUD Certified Housing Counselor, Sonja Andrews-Smith, worked together to put on a homebuyer seminar. They had 25 people attend this seminar to learn more about local and state resources in achieving homeownership.

LHC's Housing Deputy Administrator, Lauren Holmes, presented on the Proposed 2025 Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan at LHC Headquarters.

Monroe, LA

The LHC Homeownership Team did an early start for Homeownership Month by attending the 2025 Monroe Housing Fair and Expo. Hundreds of Monroe and Ouachita Parish residents attended the event to learn about first-time home buying opportunities offered by LHC.

LHC Headquarters

LHC held the 2nd Quarter Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) Meeting, one of the topics the CHDOs discussed involved LHC's environmental process. LHC's Environmental and Labor Compliance Administrator, Michelle Redler, gave a presentation on how the environmental process works and how that affects CHDO projects. 

Shreveport, LA

LHC Homeownership Marketing Representative Supervisor, Daniel Duggan, conducted a continuing education class in conjunction with Red River Bank. Continuing Education Courses are great for licensed real estate professionals to stay up to date on homebuying challenges and LHC Homeownership Programs. 

Synergy One Lending

LHC celebrated the grand opening of a new branch of one of our great lender partners, Synergy One Lending. Their new Baton Rouge office is expected to be a strong advocate for LHC Homeownership Programs.

Budget & Finance Committee

  • The Board of Directors discussed LHC's financials.

Programs Committee

  • Approved the resolution authorizing and approving the issuance of not 
    exceeding One Hundred Twenty-Five Million Dollars ($125,000,000) of Louisiana Housing Corporation Single Family Mortgage Revenue Bonds in one or more tax-exempt or taxable series or subseries; approving the form of a Series Supplemental Indenture in connection with the aforesaid Bonds; requesting the State Bond Commission to approve the issuance, sale, and delivery of the Bonds; directing the Trustee to redeem the Louisiana Housing Corporation Single Family Mortgage Revenue Refunding Bonds (Mortgage-Backed Securities Pass-Through Program), Series 2016 (Federally Taxable) on July 1, 2025
  • Approved the resolution recognizing every June hereafter in perpetuity as Homeownership Month

Administration Committee

  • Discussed the status of the ongoing Performance Audit by Louisiana Legislative Auditor (“LLA”)
  • Discussed the current makeup of the LHC Internal Audit Department and any plans for changes in that makeup and/or responsibilities in the future
