Baton Rouge, LA — The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) joined local and private sector partners to cut the ribbon and celebrate the grand opening of Drakes Landing, which is a brand-new apartment complex designed for low-income families.

LHC awarded over $9 million through its PRIME Program, in addition to $30 million in Mortgage Revenue Bonds (MRB) and over $1.5 million in Low Income Housing Tax Credits. This development features 216 apartment units; 13 of those units will be set aside for Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH). This project closed on December 17th, 2020, and was the first CDBG PRIME loan to close.

The complex will include amenities such as a playground, a fitness center, a business center, a game room, and a dog park. Residents can also pick from one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom options.

"Whether you are referring to workforce housing, permanent housing, or short-term housing, the LHC works each day to ensure that there is safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing for all," said LHC Interim-Executive Director Marjorianna Willman. "Drakes Landing will provide sufficient and safe affordable housing. We want to ensure this is possible for all of our residents across Louisiana."

Drakes Landing includes IBHS FORTIFIED GOLD standard, which includes protection of FORTIFIED roofing, doors, and windows in order to make the complex more resilient to withstand any natural disaster.

“The Louisiana Office of Community Development is thrilled to be a part of delivering this safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing community for our workforce,” said OCD Executive Director Pat Forbes. “The Drakes Landing Apartments were built using Enterprise Green and Fortified Gold building standards, helping ensure that folks can live here safely and affordably for years to come.”

The developer of this project is LDG Multifamily, LLC. Architecture done by Rickhaus Design, LLC. Builder and Contactor was Xpert Design & Construction, LLC. Management Company over this property will be under Latter & Blum Management Company.
