ABOUT THE PROGRAM

A Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) is a private nonprofit, community-based service organization that has obtained or intends to obtain staff with the capacity to develop affordable housing for the community it serves.

PROGRAM DETAILS

All interested non-profits must submit a completed LHC CHDO certification application with appropriate supporting documentation. Certification is effective for a twelve (12) month period from approval. New certification applicants may apply anytime during the year. State Certified CHDOs seeking recertification may apply from June 1st- June 30th annually.

State certification as a Community Housing Development Organization entitles participation in HOME Program activities as a CHDO and allows access to HOME Program funds that are allocated specifically to CHDOs. For more information on HOME Investment Partnerships with CHDOs, see our Frequently Asked Questions.
