The Rural Rental Rehab Program

Program Description

The Rural Rental Rehab Program (TRRRP) was announced on June 8th, 2023, making available $14.2M in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds.   The TRRRP program will provide funding for the rehabilitation of rural, multifamily, affordable rental housing.  The objective of the program is to ensure the long-term viability of rental units at preservation-worthy rural, multifamily properties. All developments must benefit low- to moderate-income populations.  The maximum award to any single development may not exceed $50,000 per unit or $2M in total funding.  LHC will not award less than $250,000 in CDBG-DR to any single development.

  • Invitations to submit to selected applicants   September 20, 2023

Qualifications:

  • Must have an existing U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development (USDA) §515 loan
  • Properties must be able to maintain acceptable physical condition no less than 20 years after construction is complete
  • At least 51% of the units must be affordable to tenants at or below 80% AMI
  • Must be located in one of the 51 eligible parishes.  
  • An existing property with no fewer than eight (8) units currently occupied
