2 June 2025—The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) commemorates June as Homeownership Month to celebrate the power and importance of homeownership in building strong communities, promoting financial stability, and achieving generational wealth.
"Homeownership is the cornerstone of the American Dream; it's a critical step toward economic independence and economic development for our communities and Louisiana residents," said LHC Executive Director Kevin Delahoussaye. "At LHC, our homeownership programs allow potential homebuyers to see a future in homeownership, a future that can shape their life over time, providing stability and prosperity."
In honor of Homeownership Month, LHC heard from a homeowner who benefited from one of LHC's programs. Click on the video below to learn about Kenitra Figaro's journey. Her message to potential homebuyers is, " I encourage them. Now, if I could get it, you can get it."
Throughout the month of June, LHC will host and support a series of statewide events aimed at educating, empowering, and assisting Louisiana residents in becoming homeowners. These initiatives will focus on providing resources for first-time homebuyers, highlighting affordable housing opportunities, and connecting individuals and families with trusted lending and housing counseling partners.
