April 2025—The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) proudly joins the nation in recognizing April as Fair Housing Month. This annual commemoration serves as a reminder of the Fair Housing Act of 1968, which prohibits discrimination in housing and affirms the commitment to ensuring equal access to safe and affordable housing for all individuals.
Fair Housing Month is an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in the pursuit of housing equality while acknowledging the ongoing challenges that many individuals and families face. LHC remains steadfast in its mission to promote fair and inclusive housing policies, provide financial assistance programs, and collaborate with local, state, and federal partners to advance equitable housing opportunities.
"Our state agency works to promote and educate the public about the importance of fair housing and what actions they can take if they are violated," said LHC Executive Director Kevin Delahoussaye. "In LHC's Certified Homebuyer Education Courses, we discuss homebuyer rights and what the Fair Housing Act protects."
Throughout April, LHC will post educational facts and data on social media platforms to raise awareness about fair housing rights. LHC encourages all Louisianians to learn more about their fair housing rights and to take part in local resources and organizations that can help them if their rights are violated.
