Baton Rouge, LA —Today, The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) celebrated the opening of a new multifamily housing development in North Baton Rouge. The Reserve at Howell Place will offer 300 quality, affordable housing units for families in need, with close proximity to transit, educational and workforce opportunities.  This development is just 1 of 3 that have been announced over the past 2 weeks in North Baton Rouge, with a total of over 700 housing units and over $100M in investments from the Louisiana Housing Corporation.

The residential buildings will consist of three-story walkable buildings with hardiplank and brick exterior, along with energy efficient windows. Some of the units will be subsidized with project-based vouchers or at 30% and 60% Area Median Gross Income (AMGI). The Reserve is located on 18.11 acres of land, situated near the IDEA Charter School, and is six miles away from the Amazon distribution center.

"The location of The Reserve at Howell Place is located in a prime location and will provide resources to those living in the complex," said LHC Executive Director Joshua G. Hollins. "At LHC, we look at residential projects that offer amenities to residents outside of the complex such as access to schools, transportation and grocery stores. All of those outside resources do make a difference for families living under a fixed income."

LHC awarded $34 million in Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds, $2.8 million in Low Income Housing Tax Credits, and $3.9 million in Tax Credit Assistance. "There is no denying the crucial need for quality, energy efficient and modern apartments in our north Baton Rouge communities. "We see the need in communities for energy-efficient, safe, and affordable housing, like The Reserve at Howell Place," said LHC Board Chairman Alfred E. Harrell, III. “We want to work together not just to increase the housing stock, but to help revitalize the communities that need it the most."

"Today, we stand at the crossroads of promise and progress in Baton Rouge. With the unveiling of The Reserve at Howell Place, we are sending a powerful message: our working families - the backbone of our community - deserve nothing less than quality, affordable homes," said Mayor Sharon Weston Broome. "Back-to-back achievements with our public-private partnership reflect our unwavering dedication and mutual vision. This isn't just housing; it's a testament to our commitment, resolve, and the heights we reach when we champion the cause of our working people."

"The resources awarded by Louisiana Housing Corporation to our multifamily development firm were instrumental in making The Reserve at Howell Place come to light," said Developer and CEO Thomas Delahaye of CST Multifamily Real Estate Services.

Partners of part of this project included CST Land Developers, L.L.C., The Architectural Studio, Block Builders, L.L.C., and CST Multifamily Group, L.L.C.
