Community & Resident Concerns

LHC’S COMMITMENT

In keeping with its mission to ensure that every Louisiana resident is granted an opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, energy-efficient housing, the LHC administers funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help provide public housing to those in need. In addition to overseeing these funds, the LHC also addressed concerns from public housing residents and the community.

Our Promise to Residents and the Community

Every resident has the right to decent, safe, and sanitary housing. The LHC accepts resident complaints and will follow-up with property owners to ensure that the appropriate action is taken and that the action is according to HUD guidelines.

So that we can effectively address community and resident concerns, we ask that anyone with concerns about a public housing property take the following actions:

  • Contact Contract Administration Staff with any issues or concerns you may have. They can be reached toll-free at 1-888-454-2001.

To address your concerns, the LHC promises to:

  • respond immediately to all life-threatening health and safety issues and respond within two business days of notification during normal business hours for all non-life threatening health and safety issues.
  • notify the owner of all concerns and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • monitor the owner's response to the concerns and implementation of corrective actions.
