BATON ROUGE - June is National Homeownership Month (NHM), and for the past 21 years, NHM has been a recognized celebration in support of the attainment of the American Dream. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic created an unprecedented housing environment that challenges homebuyers to view houses virtually, re-qualify for pre-approved loans, and prepare for potential closing delays.
To help homebuyers navigate these new processes, the Louisiana Housing Corporation is observing NHM with a four-part virtual series titled, “Ask the Expert: Your Step Towards Homeownership.” This series aims to ensure that anyone who desires information about the home buying process can have their questions answered by industry experts.
“The coronavirus pandemic has significantly altered the housing market across the nation,” said LHC Executive Director E. Keith Cunningham, Jr. “In some instances, it has also created a sense of uncertainty for homebuyers, and we want to help put their minds at ease. This series will allow them to learn about changes in the market and affordable mortgage options while connecting them to mortgage experts.”
Virtual sessions are scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.:
"Mortgage interest rates are at an all-time low, which presents a great opportunity to purchase a home," said Brenda Evans, LHC Homeownership Administrator. "However, homebuyers should be financially ready before making such an important decision, and our goal is to equip them with the right tools and information to better prepare them for the home buying journey."
