Lafayette, LA —Today, The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC), alongside local, state, and federal partners, unveiled the brand-new Arbours at Lafayette apartment complex on Alcide Dominique Drive.
Arbours at Lafayette is a brand new 84-unit apartment community offering spacious, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units with modern amenities including a community pool, computer center, and fitness center.
LHC awarded $11.5 million in Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds (MRB) and over a million dollars in Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). The LHC Board of Directors awarded $7.9 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)-DR funds from the 2020 Flood PRIME Funding Round in June 2020.
“The Arbours at Lafayette will provide safe, affordable, resilient housing for Lafayette families,” Office of Community Development Executive Director Pat Forbes said. "OCD is excited to team up with all the critical partners in this project to deliver a safe place to call home.”
Developers for the Arbours at Lafayette, Arbour Valley Development, LLC, and Bearing Point Properties, LLC, built the complex following the building standards set under the IBHS FORTIFIED Program. "This requires developers to build to a certain standard of hardened building techniques that can withstand any storm that comes our way," said LHC Executive Director Joshua G. Hollins. "Arbours at Lafayette will have that resiliency factor under FORTIFIED Gold, which requires each building's entire structure to be tied together, forming a continuous load path. A certified protection feature that will make residents feel safe."

Mckean & Associates Architects, LLC did the architecture for the apartment complex. Builder and Contractor was Buquet & Leblanc, Inc. The complex's management company will be Arbour Valley Management, LLC.
