$9.5 Million Available For Rental Properties

November 6, 2019

Funds will assist with the rehabilitation and development of rental properties in areas impacted by the 2016 floods.

Eligible applicants include for-profit landlords, nonprofit organizations, community housing development organizations, local development agencies, and public housing authorities in affected parishes.

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana  (November 6, 2019) – Today, the Louisiana Housing Corporation released a $9.5 million Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) to address the unmet needs of low- to moderate- income renters affected by the Great Floods of 2016, by providing affordable and quality rental housing units.

Through the Neighborhood Landlord Rental Program Phase II (NLRP II), eligible property owners could receive up funds to rehabilitate existing properties or create new affordable housing units.

"Many communities across the state are still recovering from the 2016 floods, said E. Keith Cunningham, Jr. executive director of LHC. "Through our partnership with the Office of Community Development, we are able to provide assistance that will help revitalize these communities by eliminating blighted property and increasing the availability of affordable housing stock."

For-profit landlords, non-profit organizations, community housing development organizations, local development agencies, and public housing authorities in affected parishes are all eligible to apply for this funding. Awardees must own or acquire real estate without program funds, and preference will be given to small, for-profit landlords/property owners.

LHC will convene a series of technical assistance workshops for individuals planning to submit applications. The purpose of these workshops is to provide prospective applicants with an opportunity to receive answers to their questions about the intent and requirements of the NOFA. The workshops are open to the public, but pre-registration is encouraged.
