Celeste Landing Grand Opening

New Orleans, LA—The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) celebrates the grand opening of Celeste Landing which plans to have 46 affordable housing units in the Lower Garden District Neighborhood.

Celeste Landing is a combination of new construction and historic rehabilitation. The original three-story brick building is designated as a historic landmark. Now, it will provide safe, affordable, and energy-efficient housing for households earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The project also qualifies as a Choice Neighborhood Initiative (CNI) project.

LHC awarded $1,438,751 through the Low Income Housing Tax Credits Program (LIHTC). "LHC is honored to be a part of this project as 30% of the total households will be designated for single and foster parents, veterans, those who are elderly, disabled, and/or homeless, and households with victims of domestic violence," said LHC Executive Director Kevin Delahoussaye. "Being able to directly help some of our most vulnerable populations in Louisiana is a reward for us. We know that Celeste Landing will be essential for its residents and to the community surrounding it."

Celeste Landing is a walkable neighborhood, giving residents outside amenities to other essential businesses on Religious Street. Inside Celeste Landing, residents will have other resources such as a community room, security features, and a gated parking area.

Renaissance Neighborhood Development Corporation, a subsidiary for Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana, and Atrium Housing played an integral role as housing partners in developing Celeste Landing.

Architecture was done by Holly and Smith Architects, and the management company is Renaissance Neighborhood Development Corporation.
